Notice to all Tourism Service Providers,
Ensuring Equal Treatment for All Tourists (international & Domestic).
We would like to bring to your attention an important matter regarding the treatment of tourists visiting Sri Lanka. Recently, we have received several complaints from local tourists regarding instances where certain service providers have displayed signs indicating that their services are exclusively for foreigners. Additionally, there have been reports of promotions through digital/social media platforms that seem to target only foreign visitors.
As you are aware, all tourist service providers registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority are required to offer their services equally to all tourists, regardless of their nationality or origin. This includes providing services to domestic tourists, who are also an integral part of our tourism industry.
Therefore, we kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that all tourists, including domestic visitors, are treated with equality and fairness. Discriminatory practices towards any group of tourists are not acceptable and may result in the cancellation of your registration with the Authority.
We value your partnership in promoting tourism in Sri Lanka and trust that you will uphold the principles of inclusivity and equality in your operations.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Notice about Yala Entrance
The Yala Tourism Zone and the Yala Hotelliers Association:
The Park Warden of Yala NP has requested me to inform you that the Park Authorities have issued registration stickers to safari vehicles entering Yala NP. There are 475 registered safari vehicles with this identification sticker. After the safari jeep driver training program, there are around 750 certified drivers who have been issued with permanent ID cards. Those who participated in the final training conducted on January 18th and 19th have been issued a temporary letter that is valid until January 31st.
The Park Warden wants me to request that you check whether the safari jeeps you use, ARE registered with the park authorities, AND the driver has an ID confirming that he has participated in the training. If both requirements are satisfied, the driver and vehicle will be permitted into the park, even if there is no wildlife department guide. If either of the above is NOT met, the driver can enter the park ONLY if there is a DWC guide accompanying each vehicle. As the park authorities have a limited number of DWC guides, your guests will be inconvenienced if there are no guides, as they will have to wait till a guide returns from a safari.
Please ensure that you follow these guidelines to minimize inconvenience to your guests.
Please note that there will be no exceptions to this rule.
Sumith Pilapitiya,
Chairman of the Committee appointed to improve the quality of wildlife tourism in Yala.

Notice about Liquor License
Excise Department Media Release
Important Notice - Annual Renewal for 2024
Hereby we inform you of the upcoming renewal process for establishments and services registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) for the year 2024. The renewal process is set to commence in October 2023. We also wish to bring to your attention the procedure for issuance of liquor recommendations for eligible tourism services for the same year.
During the last few years, due to conditions that prevailed in the country, SLTDA made recommendations for the renewal of liquor license ignoring established procedures which included ignoring having a valid SLTDA license for the current year. - The Excise Department granted liquor licenses based on the prior year's SLTDA liquor recommendations.
However, for the year 2024, in accordance with legal requirements, neither SLTDA nor the Excise Department will grant extensions for liquor licenses, as has been the practice in previous years. This means that both customers and establishments must obtain their SLTDA licenses for the year 2024 to continue enjoying the privilege of holding a liquor license beyond 2023.
To ensure a seamless continuation of your liquor license for 2024, please take note of these key points:
We earnestly encourage all stakeholders to adhere to these vital updates and deadlines to guarantee the continuation of your liquor license for 2024. To facilitate the uninterrupted operation of your tourism services, we kindly request that you renew your license in a timely manner, thus avoiding any last-minute inconveniences.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this matter and greatly value your ongoing partnership with SLTDA. We are confident of another prosperous year ahead and remain at your service for any queries or elucidations.
Best regards,
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority
