1) Grace Period Extended.

The Cabinet of Ministers granted their approval to implement the following recommendations for Tourism Development Levy (TDL) payments as follows.

To repeal the Cabinet decisions Noy. අමප 14//19/2025/106/030 dated 14th August 2019 and No. අමප/20/3088/231/013 dated 5th March 2020 relating to the subject matter, and granting a new oratorium of 2 years (equivalent 24 monthly instalments or 8 quarters) to pay the arrears of TDL payable form 1st April 2019 to 31st December 2021 by the registered tourist service providers of SLTDA, without a penalty.
Accordingly, the specific payment of TDL should commence from January 2022 and the recovery of arrears due in respect of the above moratorium in addition to the specified TDL, also should commence from 1st July 2022 and to recover all relevant arrears by 1st July 2024.
If any institution has already paid penalty in respect to the above proposed moratorium, that amount will not be refunded and the relevant amount will be deducted from the specified quarterly TDL payments payable form 1st April 2022.

2) Validity Period Extended

The validity period of the Licenses of all Tourism establishments/ services have been extended up to 30th June 2021 considering the prevailing COVID -19 penadamic, for those who have

Registered and /or renewed in the year 2019 and /or 2020 irrespective of the categories including tourist guides.
Not renewed their licenses for over a year can avail the facility by renewing up to the year 2020.
During this relief period all tourist establishments and services are requested to renew their licenses for 2021
